Great pics! Love the Sardine picture and especially that Frogfish with mouth open-- very cool!
thanks for sharing your report and nice photos....
thank you guys ~
I tried three dives for the sardines, so I'm very happy you liked it
The frogfish was at the Pescador island, and this one was very nice who would like to yawn at the camera

Thanks for the trip report. I like your pictures very much.

Did you enter the small cave located at 30m at Pescador? Really cool dive site with beautiful corals and nice atmosphere.

Cool, I am going there in 2 weeks - so is morning the best time for the Sardines?

How regular do the resort go to Sardines and Pescador? We will only have 7-8 dives.

Thanks

You can see the sardine run anytime on the house reef (along the shore) You don't need a boat to go there.
For Pescador, they usually go multiple times each week upon customer request.

I highly recommend the night dives on the house reef. We can spot some very nice critters.

ok, thanks - I will be staying at turtle bay resort, so I guess we might need a boat to get to the sardines...

Thanks for sharing, I'll be making my 4th trip to Moalboal in January. Good report and good tips! :)

It's a short trip, only 2 diving days, and we did 8 dives.
Moalboal is now a backpacker destination, full of newly certified divers and those learning to dive.
We tried to find a dive shop willing to manage a private guide and early morning dives, and as a result, we chose Que Vadis.
The manager John understand our needs and arranged us to make 7:00 am sardine dives, which is very nice.

the dive site is full of divers and snorkelers later.
we did two dives at other local sites, sorry don't remember the name.
they were all walls.
the second one was managed to be a macro dive, so we brought macro lens, and a BABY WHALE SHARK came ... what an achievement lol

here are the photos of local sites without the whale shark

we made three dives at the Pescador island.
the island is small, and there were lots of boats in the morning.
most of the boats are gone in the afternoon.
I like the soft coral overhang very much, but there were almost no current when we dived there...

a giant frogfish yawning is truly a bonus for us

If we go to Moalboal next time, it will be a holiday with some non-diving friends :D
There are so many nice restaurants and interesting coffee shops, I quite like them.

What's your camera setup? Amazing photos!

Thank you MomZo, I pass by that cave twice but didn't enter it, cause I was almost DECO lol...
the soft coral there were indeed amazing!

we made 3 dives at the sardine site, and 2 of the dives we took a tricycle... because there were only two of us, and the boat was too big. I prefer a boat totally, but tricycles are doable.

So glad you like the photos :D
I use Olympus EM1mk2 and INON Z330 strobes

That was my experience too when I stayed at Turtle bay.
As a reply to @Tripophobia :
- if you want to get early before the yellow jackets snorkelers and enjoy good viz, take the tricycle.
- If you prefer to swim within a sardine poo storm and loads of other divers, then go with the boat... and good luck at taking decent photos.

Does the resort somehow support/organize the tricycle tour?
