Aquaadventures.............I've only said this about 5k times here "you dive on the calm North Side and skip the 23 miles per hour winds on the South!!".....
......:).......& yet people still have a fascination with 'the south side'.....One day, they'll learn..lol

The main problem with Diving the North Side, or many places other than CCV for that matter is the limits on easily being able to do more than 3 dives a day and multiple night dives. I dive neither near CCV or Nrthside , I am on the south but the winds are seldom an issue when it comes to walking into the sea and they are no problem at all once diving

I agree...the winds are not normally a problem on the south side, and we LOVE diving the south side of Roatan. My point was only that we THOUGHT we were making a compromise by not diving the south side, but this was a strange weather pattern and things worked out really well for us.

As for CCV...you're right - it's a great place to load up on dives. We love CCV and the quality of their operation. They have been a stable dive op in Roatan for a very long time. That being said, not everyone is interested in doing 4, 5, or even more dives per day. I'm quite happy with three a day, and after 9 straight days, I was pretty worn out :D

The cool thing is that with Aqua Adventures, you're covered either way. They've got one operation at Los Rocas Resort in West Bay and another operation at Media Luna Resort on the south side. If one side is challenging, there's always the "OTHER" side :D

Those were 3 lionfish that were killed under the dock just before we left for our afternoon dive. Rather than throw them away, we brought them along to see if anyone was hungry :D

NOOOO !!!! PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE ANIMALS !!!

This is a very bad habit that leads to aggressive predators. Many people have been bitten by aggressive morays because they expect to be fed and when they don't get fed they get frustrated and lash out or try and force the food from you.

Personally, I've had morays come after me and I've had a barracuda get brazen enough to swim right up between my legs to get after a wounded lionfish I had on my spear. I had no intention of feeding any animal but it was apparently "conditioned" by other hunters to expect the handout so it came and took it because I wasn't giving it.

In fact, there is a video going around about a spotted moray getting into a homemade lionfish container and snatching a small lionfish out of it. This is another animal that has obviously been conditioned and was frustrated enough to violate a divers space and would undoubtedly bite you defensively if you tried to keep him away from you. At this stage the animal just doesn't know any better so it makes it that much more unfair to be doing to the animals.

Then you have the issue of scaring the living crap out of new, or insecure divers who never expected to be attacked by a 5 ft long moray eel.

I am very surprised to hear that this resort is participating in such an irresponsible manner. It's not like they don't know better. They do. Roatan Marine Park does a great job of spreading awareness and the dive shop had to undergo training in order to obtain a license to hunt lionfish at all. Maybe you can inform them of the consequences of this behavior since they've obviously forgotten.

Ok, my rant is over :)

I'm glad you had such a great vacation though. This is one kick ass island to dive :)

So...I finally took a deep breath and got around to throwing all this stuff together. I cut out as much as I could stand to - still a little long, but fun!
