That's one of the things I like and like greatly about White Star.
I like Gilboa, but I really don't need the "oversight" that's offered.

Thanks for the report. We have been really fortunate with the great weather this year. I like the locations that are no frills, just jump in and dive. Lets me dive the way I want and am comfortable.

Water temps for the quarries and local lakes have been staying at the 42 degree mark. Can't wait until they warm up a little. :-)

Thanks for the report, Jim.

Anyone been by Blue Springs lately to see if the gates is still locked?

Yes, inquiring minds what to know! I'd heard that others had been recently and it was "open" (self-serve operation as normal) unlike the last time you and I went.

Has anyone been to Blue Springs recently?

A friend of mine went there last week and it is closed, (except for cops). They have some liability issues as there were two swimmer deaths there from what we were told. I hate to loose another of the very limited venues we have in this part of the country. Falling Rock in LaGrange KY is a sewer. Pennyroyal is 2 3/4 hrs away. It is nice but limited access, (parking). Martha's in Lebanon TN is 2 3/4 hrs which has been suffering with poor vis.

Interesting. Thanks for the update. There were two swimmer deaths nearby at Hidden Paradise. I'd not heard of any deaths at Blue Springs. They're in the same county, so perhaps officials are clamping down on swimming holes because of those deaths. Just a thought.

If accurate this is unfortunate. Until last year I had not dove at Blue Springs since my OW cert in 98. I was really enjoying the close local diving without the required day trip to Haigh or Gilboa. Hopefully the BS going on gets figured out so those of us who would like to dive there can do so.
