hmmm .. Just looking at your past threads. So you've completed your open water, advanced open water, nitrox, and drysuit class in six weeks and have managed to log 50 open water dives in this same period of time?

Get out there and dive. Do lots of different types of dives so you are like one of those guys who has several hundred of the same type of dive. Current, deep, night, low-viz, high-viz, etc. As was mentioned, you normally have to be 18 to do tech courses (you normally can't be held to a contract in the US until you're 18) so if you're looking for a techish course, maybe do DIR-F in full tech setup. You can take that at 16.

i have a very close friend who runs a charter boat and will take me out every weekend if i wanted and i have about 15 grand saved up from cleaning boat bottoms over the years

I hope its a Dive Charter boat, (btw: only know of one in SI). If so, take advantage of the offer, get the experience. Any dive here (NY/NJ) is more experience than a dive 100 ft deeper in warm crystal waters.

That 15G can dissapear quickly, SCC i believe runs abt 4 or 5 G, then the training. A CCR w/training is in area of 10G. And friends w/ CCRs indicate if anything goes wrong or is broken, figure its $400 for what ever.

BTW: I wish i could have gotten the experience started when I was your age.

You are only 16...slow down fellow---have fun and enjoy diving and gain experience as you grow with the sport. By the way...I was 16 years old when I got my first C-card...memories, how sweet they are.

i would like to now what course to take next i now have a total of fifty logged dives.
Fundamentals. Before any bad habits get ingrained. I wish such a class was offered when I started diving -- I had to unlearn a ton of stuff :(

Roak

From what I've heard, it's a great class but the gear requirements are very specific which is a turn off for a lot of people. Cavern may be a decent alternative but I've never taken DIR-F so I'm just guessing.

to me that seems like a course that can be avoide by being taught by skilled instructers and mentors and diving

And you would know best because you have taken open water, aow, nitrox, drysuit, and logged 50 dives since July 16, 2006.

So can every other class.
