Anyone have any thoughts on what computers or computer would be good to use for Trimix that might will be able to be used in CCR if I go that way in the future.

Lately the Shearwater Predator and the Liquivision X-1 are leading the pack. People dumped their VR3's when they came out, and not too many people are jumping on the VRx. Being able to plan prior on a laptop\desktop is a big reason people are moving away from VR's... v-planer, iDeco, mydecoplan.com all use the standard algorithms in the X1 and Shearwater offerings.

If CCR\Trimix is your end-game, one question you need to answer is - will I integrate...?

With the Predator, Shearwater introduced a standalone (SA) model which cuts off a few hundred dollars off the price tag - i.e. no fischer port. To integrate on the X1 requires another external piece of hardware, the X-link to feed pO2 data to the computer.

Both companies have very good customer service. You can scan TDS for threads when people have had issues - and they are rapidly addressed.

For the longest time - I put the Shearwater in the front hands-down - mostly due to price. The X1 was like $800+ more when comparing apples to apples. They have recently dropped their price to be more competitive as well as added a 2nd depth sensors into their units to address issues. Both use OLED screens.

I dive an APECS Meg with a non-integrated Shearwater Pursuit. I let the rebreather do its thing - and the computer do its thing. The loop pO2 variance is negligible over the course of the dive for my warm water diving. Integrating would make my 5K rebreather head a 6+K piece of gear. If I had a problem on either end - I might be out of business... If I have a problem w/ the head - I have a spare. If i have a problem w/ the Shearwater - I use a BT and cut tables. Either way I'm back in business fast.

My vote is also for the Shearwater Predator. I got the stand alone version.

Only 2 games in town.

1)Shearwater
2)Liquivision

The Shearwater standalone can not be plumbed directly into a rebreather to read the O2 cells, but it can run constant pO2.

Just got my Shearwater Pursuit upgraded to the Predator. Very impressed.

The price comparison in that article is very misleading. The Predator selected will monitor O2 cells on a rebreather. The X-1 needs an additional module to do that.

Also I believe you would need to add in the price of software for the Liquivision.

For what it's worth, as both features are still on the roadmap, so no definitive answers on how it will work yet: the Uemis Zuerich SDA will support both trimix and some sort of CCR integration in the future.

I looked at the liquivision, the dive rite ,forgot the name, and I have a friend that is looking into the Heliox, i think thats it. Thanks for the input I will read up on the Predator

Thanks.

The X1 does both VPM &/or Buhlmann.

Neither use arbitrary, half maximum depth style deep stops.

Are you sure the predator doesn't have a user replaceable battery.

Are you sure the X1 doesn't do gauge mode.
