Has anybody been able to travel with regs as carryon from canada since the Zero carryon christmas Crackdown

yes i have used air canada in the afternoon of the 26th of december and i carried with no problem my regs in my carry on. I was travelling from Montreal (YUL) to Cancun and everything was fine

thanks , i should clarify that i have to connect through the States

wasn't the bomb in the guys underwear anyway? seems a little silly to ban carry on's when they should be banning banana hammocks

maybe i could wear my regs around my neck as a necklace

Toronto -> Cancun and back last week. No problems, but I read that they had to clarify today that books were OK, so I wouldn't risk trying to bring regs as carry on until they sort things out. The security guys seem to be only allowing items that are specifically designated.

I would pack them in the center of the suitcase surrounded on all sides by clothes.

Or, you could wrap them around your waist and tell that it's underwear. Seems to work OK with bombs, so why not with legitimate items.

Has anyone flown Detroit to Cancun since the NWA incident? We are flying NWA from DTW to CUN on FEB 18th. I usually bring my regs and dive computer in my carry-on and I am wondering what to expect. I bought a small safe that I was bringing to Mexico to install in the condo. I can just image the looks that is going to invoke when they search my carry-on since I planned on putting the regs inside it. Wish me luck, I think I'm gong to need it.

as far as i understand it will not effect you if you are all ready in the states , we will be wearing our divecomputers as watches , that should work . il leave it off untill the security person asks about it. it has a nifty countdown timer when you first turn it on LOL

Adpfam - when do you fly out? I head to Cozumel Jan 30th. Toronto to Charlotte then Charlotte to Cozumel.

I hadn't thought about the computer as a watch - I hope they don't mind my DSS housing on the Vytec cuz that is brilliant. Plan was to have carry on with computer, camera (maybe the housing), regs, mask + my personal bag with the laptop.

Now I am wondering if I should bring the housing as it will definitely be checked. I am fine with the plate, wing and wetsuit in checked but regs????

Add insult to injury - I am flying US airways and I am sure they will not be waiving their checked bag fees. I was going to pay for an extra bag and bring medical supplies for the shelters but I may have to save most of the second bag for stuff that should be carried on.
