I'm wondering if anyone ever travels with their own manifold, bands, etc so as to always have your own when going on tech diving trips utilizing doubles. I wouldn't plan on taking tanks but curious if anyone travels with these or just leaves it up to the shop, live aboard, etc that you'll be diving with.

Check if the place you go fills their own tanks. If they farm it out, might be harder to get doubles filled.

Just google search technical diving cylinder support for wherever destination you're planning to explore, or go with outfitted expedition charterers like Tech Asia or Lust for Rust, so you won't have the added weight of bringing your own manifold & bands and spending the extra time to assemble a set of backmount doubles for Open Circuit diving.

The other option is to travel with a dedicated sidemount wing & harness set-up, and cam band tank attachment kits, so you can utilize any readily available single cylinders provided by the dive-ops for Open Circuit Doubles Sidemount Diving.

I can't imagine ever traveling with bands and a manifold. There are manifolded doubles for rent pretty much anywhere there's a tech diving community. I have on occasion made slight adjustments to band location on rented doubles. It's not difficult.
