Question 1: To all of you that dive with a BP/w, how many travel with BP/w and most of your gear in a carry on?

Question 2: of those that do, have you had any trouble with security going through x-ray and having them question you on why you are bringing a large piece of metal on board. do you get any flak, do they make you check the carry on. :cussing:

I'm curious because I'm think of carrying most of my gear on board.

Q1: Only kit I carry on are my regs.
Q2: Other divers in my group carried their plates onboard, without any issues.

Most airlines have a size and weight limit for carry on bags.

I carry on my regs, can light, and computers. The BP/W are checked.

I carry my computer and camera and housing. Everything else is checked in.
(All my dive trips take place in Asia, and losing checked in luggage is rather rare)

I put my BP/W in my carry-on. I've been searched, but when I asked the TSA person, they indicated it was the hoses on the regs, not the backplate.

There were three of us in a row going through security one time. First person had both bags flagged, the x-ray screener asked what was in her bags and she said, "Scuba gear." When my bags and the other guys bags went through the screener asked us, "You scuba divers too?" We said yes and she just waived us through.... :D

I carry on my regs, computer, camera and mask. Most of the time I get stopped cause of the regs and when I tell them I'm a diver, they let me go.

Everything else goes into the checked in luggage: BP/W, fins, wetsuit, booties, 21 HID light, spare mask.

thanks to all who replied my wife and I pretty much do like everyone else regulators, and computer and mask. The regulators seem to attract the most attention I agree

Thanks

I travel with an Oxy 18/30 and Ultralight fabric plate, it goes in checked luggage, my laptop computer and camera gear are carry-on.

I have carried my wing on before. It rolls up fairly small and doesn't weigh much. It would be hard for the baggage monkeys to hurt the plate but they could damage the wing if they were really trying hard. Most of the time I check everything except regulators and photo gear. TSA usually wants a peek.
