We are looking at traveling to Vanuatu over their summer and would love some feedback regarding their summer and our planned trip.
We leave from Auckland travel through Port Vila to Santo and are looking at booking 10 dives to be taken over 6 days, staying at Coral Quays formally Bourgainville. Diving with either Aquamarine or Alan Powers.
Fly back to Port Vila with 1 night at Hideaway Island Resort and then back to Auckland.

We're wondering about the weather and if any of you have traveled to Vanuatu between Dec- Mar we would love to hear from you.

Welcome to the board!
Mever been there but it seems like a long way to go and only do 10 dives in 6 days.

I went to Vanuatu iat the start of February this year. We had 9 days of sunshine, 2 nights of light rain and at least 20 metres vis on every dive I did. This was on the Island of Efate (where Port Vila is) so I'm not sure it applies to Santo. Having said that, it was also a great time because there were very few tourists, making booking dives very easy, and also meant there were usually only 4 divers on the boat - no crowd problems!

Welcome to SB! Sounds like you have a nice trip planned. Check out the link El Orans posted. If it's not crowded, you might squeeze in some more diving, that's what I would do! Have a great time and be safe!

Hi Kawhaka,

Your trip to Vanuatu should be wonderful!

I went to Vanuatu during December a few years ago and the weather was hot and sunny (consistently low 30s on land). I can't remember too much rain - maybe one night.

Stayed in Santos for couple weeks (At the Deco Stop Lodge) and dived with Alan Powers.

The Coolidge was a great dive and conditions were quite good: good viz, very little current, water temp 26/27 C. I believe I did ten dives during my stay (nine of them on the Coolidge and one at Million Dollar Point). As most of the dives were deep and require decompression procedures, we were limited to max of two per day.

Whatever you get up to, enjoy the trip!
