There is one other thing to consider...
AA Miami to Curacao allows 2 checked bags of 50 pounds each. We have someone coming in 2 weeks (thankfully a friend) and I have been catalog shopping with his address. The max weight limit with Insel Air Aruba to Curacao is a total of 44 pounds. I sure hope he's renting his gear here ;) Liz might know the additional weight costs. Last year I asked and it was about a guilder or dollar (?) a pound.

Actually Insel Air as well as Tiara is pretty lenient when it comes to weight. It all depends on the loads of the plane. We have been overweight on both by a little and they never batted an eye. Both planes were actually not full, so that is why we figured it out. DAE on the other hand is strict about weight. During our DEMA trip this year we flew Bonaire to Curacao. We were 66 lbs over and paid 66,00 guilders, so it was bout $35.

I always suggest you put your reg and camera in your carryon. This not only helps reduce the weight, but God forbid your luggage gets lost, at least you have your reg and camera!

Liz
