Hi Red Sea,
I am planning a trip to Red Sea at this April, and actually I already book a LOB. I have a few objectives but still try to figure the puzzle in travel. All input are welcome.
  • I have a LOB embark at Hurghada between April 10-18
  • I want to visit Marsa Alam for freediving/snorkeling with dolphin, sataya reef
  • I plan to stay at Dahab for 4 weeks in scuba and Freediving training until May 20
---

  • I am flying out from Seattle, so connect to Hurghada or Marsa Alam both are length and complex. 2 stops minimum. ( slightly edge to Hurghada, as IST connection a bit expensive but simple)
  • Fly to Marsa Alam for dolphin first, then move to Hurghada for LOB then Transfer to Dahab look like more simple. Alternative is I need to fly to Hurghada then, taxi between Hurghada and Marsa Alam
  • How can I transfer from Hurghada to Dahab? Looks like one option is fly from Hurghada to SSH, Sham. Is there a ferry I could use to across the Red Sea?

You will have to fly from HRG to SSH, likely via CAI and then transfer to Dahab (about 2 hours drive, if i remember right).
Therere are no ferry from Hurghada/Marsa Alam to the Sinai. If you find such information on the Internet, they are outdated.
Hurghada to Marsa Alam by road is not that bad a there is a quite new "highway". Travel time will depend where in "Marsa Alam" you want to go.

Thank you for the updated information. It is really important for me. I did a search, look like there are very long stopover at Cairo for flight from HRG to SSH. Only one that is 1 hour stopover at Cairo. i don't think that make sense for me to gamble the efficiency of EgyptAirline.

There is a direct flight to Sharm from Hurghada on Thursdays I believe, which is the liveaboard changeover day. We find looking at Skyscanner very useful for scheduling information. Sounds like a great trip !

Or look at Air Cairo. They show some direct flights from HRG to SSH without CAI as layover, flight time = 30 min, Sunday and Thursday, Code = SM15. And that schedule looks operational (here).
I agree, the HRG-CAI-SSH leg is quite long with 5-6 h in total for a relative short distance. But there are no other alternatives. Bus / Car will take way more...

Thanks. I decide to stay at HRG for two more nights and fly with airCairo. At least it is more reliable with short one way flight. It will be too much uncertainty to travel with my diving gear and underwater camera in Egypt.
