Transpac v TransPlate

Looking for pros and cons between these two harnesses trying to decide which one to buy.

I am strictly a warm water diver (nothing below 76 degrees if I can help it!) and have no plans to use doubles. Been diving almost 21 years with a weight integrated, back inflated system.

Need to make a decision this week so please give me your opinions....

My wife had been diving an old jacket BC and I finally got her to try a backplate. She just knew she was not going to like that big hunk of metal and, as I expected, she was right. So she settled for the transpac and loves it. I still think a plate is more versatile and efficient; but what do I know.

Guess I should have also included that if I go with the transplate harness I will be using it with the oxycheq ultra lite travel plate and not a hard plate.

Pricing that I have found for the transplate and oxycheq ultra lite setup is about $200 cheaper than the transpac... so that's another factor... but in the end, what matters most to me is what I like to dive with the best! :cool2:

Still looking for reasons to get one over the other from all of you out there!!

if you know your not going to dive doubles and dont need the extra weight of a stainless bp i would go with the transpac. I have a transplate for singles and a hog harness with an al bp for doubles and while they are both great, i think you would like the transpac's comfort as the added benefits of the plate wouldnt seem to help you as much. also, dont get the rec wing. i would get a singles only wing

That's right, we talked about this before. I still think a simple Hog rig is the way to go with that UL plate but those harness prices look pretty good. I'm not sure the transplate harness will work with the UL plate but I don't know why it would not. Why don't you call DRE (Modular BC Systems and Accessories - Dive Gear Express) and see if they can tell you if it will work. The price difference is quite tempting. I have my doubts about the UL plate standing up to lots of diving but if it became a problem, an Al BP is a cheap enough fix.
