@d^2b If you still want to dissasemble for travel, I bet a port plug could go into the hose end to keep the spool in and clean when the transmitter is removed. If not, drilling a recess into the back of the plug so the spool can stay in there might work. One more thing to lose though.

The HP disconnect mentioned above or "do nothing" sound better to me though
