Toronto-Roatan Direct Flight

Really wasn't a bummer for me at all, We help with my watchmans son who is going to school in Belize so I had a surprise visit with him on Delta's dime and I still had over a month on Roatan although those on a one week trip probably hated it. The Delta plane stayed at the Belize airport and the crew and all us passengers stayed at the Radisson Fort George in Belize where the Agressor and Peter Hughes boats dock, Was a nice place and mine was a waterfront room with a great view of the marina and Delta picked up the tab along with a food voucher and even sent me a pretty good credit for a future flight with them, though the food voucher only covered about half of my dinner tab. All transportation was covered and we left Belize early Sunday and I was at my home by about 10 am Sunday, the worst part was all the big stores were closed because it was election day in Honduras so i had to wait till monday to get stocked up with groceries which meant some Mac and cheese and Island style fried chicken on Sunday, which ain't all that bad in itself.

Oh, lucky you.

I understand everybody weren't as happy, but I would rather sit on the ground wishing I was on a plane, than sit on a plane wishing I was on the ground.

Although I haven't had any bad experiences flying Detroit-Houston-Roatan or Detroit-Atlanta-Roatan a direct , non-stop flight is preferred and obviously when the price is equal or below the connection flights. The value Spirit Airlines provides is great but the arrival time in San Pedro Sula is unappealing. Ideally, I shoot to fly out early morning and be on the West End Divers boat for the afternoon dive . Less vacation time spent in airports means more vacation time spent in the water. My last visit was in November and it was quiet even for November. Haven't heard any bad press about the political situation on the mainland lately, has tourist traffic picked back up over the holidays?

The direct flights from Toronto to Roatan are looking pretty reasonable in price these days. Jan 4 Sunwing flight is under $600 with tax included. Looks like there is a flight every Monday for the next few months with a little variation in price every week. Anyone in the Southwest Ontario area have any other options other than the connectors out of Detroit?

Are you finding "under $600 with tax included" still there? I am not, but I just checked one hypothetical date - you didn't give dates. I'm finding $755, which I suppose is CND, as illustrated in pic above.

I guess it has. Flights are selling well. Out of Detroit, you could take an adventure for $470 USD RT total to La Ceiba then ferry, but wow so 3 connections each way and overnight in La Ceiba - ugg! details

There is only one non-stop Sunwing flight from Toronto to Roatan each week.Monday Jan. 11, return flight is $565 canadian tax in. The prices bounce a little from week to week.

Ah ha! They are trying to get some income on empty seats on the next plane out. February prices are much higher. Sounds great.
