I recently attempted to survey a low viz cave and miserably failed. Survey isn't as easy as it looks, and I'm not entirely sure that you want to practice it on a mission.

Have you practiced it in a less aggressive environment?

Totally agree. I'm not sure we'll get to the previously undove/unsurveyed parts. The 4 of us are scattered all over the West though. Had not dove together before last August and probably won't until next summer. We're all GUE cave2 so there's no unusual habits or techniques between us. Fortunately we get to "warm up" in cave that only 6-20ft deep.

Swimming 1000ft in a project is just plain stupid unless it's too small to scooter. Just IMO, but when a dive is mission/destination oriented, I prefer to trim the travel time as much as possible.

You don't know this cave.

I just think its lame how much time and effort goes into our little after work mudholes: Cove2, Redondo. Despite opportunities to go elsewhere people don't or won't.

Totally agreed! But I think a lot of folks fit diving in where they can, and places they don't have to drive far to dive, and which can be dived on any tide or current, are awfully handy :)

It's like labor, Richard . . . if you remembered it vividly, you'd never go through it again :D

I don't gork diving the same site over and over. Whether its Mukilteo or Peacock. Especially when people have spent untold time, energy and/or money on trimix or cave courses. I guess its tough looking good in front of the hot chicks at Alki! :rofl3:

no. none of us do. thank you captain obvious

You are welcome to join us. Give your new smurf gloves a workout. Try not to poke holes in them; the limestone is sharp and the water is cold!

We've got Nadwidny and his homie on CCRs, KMD and myself on OC. SM vs. BM is obviously still a bit uncertain.

this one ain't exactly in my wheelhouse. I think I will leave it to you guys. trimix cave dives in those temps spooks me a little.

We're stuck with the temps we got. Water was 45F in Lake Washington last weekend on a still unknown wreck (warmer than the cave since I'm 11 hours south). 25mins at 160ffw average for 30mins of deco. We had O2 and EAN50 since we'd originally thought we'd be deeper.

Best part about all the dry sections in the cave we've been discussing is you get darn hot humping gear around on them. I think we'll be stashing some MREs in there this year as lunches.
