I got my OWC last Aug and I havn't been diving since Oct! I can't hardly wait to get back in the water! I went to my LDS and asked about the water temp at the quarry and they said it's about 62 degrees. I have a 3 mil farmer jane but I don't think that's gonna be enough. The outside temp has been in the 80's for the past few days. Hopefully the quarry will warm up soon!! Anyway, I want to get back diving asap What would be enough neoprene to dive at 62 degrees ??

I would suggest minimum 1/4" farmer john, jacket, hood and gloves. Keep in mind thermocline. Temperature can drop dramatically. Stay warm and safe.

3 mil wouldn't be enough. I would go with 5 mil minimum and 7 mil would ideal. You would freeze your ass off with 3 mil. When I'm working with classes in the pool it is heated to 80 and some students still get cold with a 3 mil shorty on. Also, I would bet the water is colder at depth. I know here the surface temp can be 10 degrees higher than at 20 feet and colder still at 40.

and I find a 1/4" farmer john and jacket with a hood, 3-finger gloves and boots to be VERY comfy when the surface water is in the 60's and the thermalcline takes the temp to the low 50's at depth. I've seen bigger divers try this dive in a full 3 mil and they were out of the water right after they hit the thermalcline!

In addition to the thermoclines, don't forget that your suit will compress with depth. That 3 mil is going to be turning into a 2 mil pretty quick.
I'd go with 5 at the absolute minimum, 6.5 - 7 better if you want to make more than 1 dive in the day.

Im doing my AOW certs this weekend and the water temp is mid 60's at the surface. Im wearing my 3mil jumpsuit, then putting my 2.5mil shorty vest on over that. A 7/5mil hood, 2mm gloves, and 3mm boots. Most of our dives will be above the thermocline so I should be okay for those.

The night dive will also be above the thermocline, but getting out might get a bit chilly with the sun down. The one Im most worried about is the deep dive. Its going to be low 50's at 80+ ffw and the suit will be compressed. Good thing those deep dives are short lived!!

"conservatively bult"

*cough* ;)

Anyway, 62 degrees!! That's TOASTY! The water in the Hudson (where I dive it) sometimes gets that high.. by far the warmest water I've ever been diving in. I wear a 3 mm farmer john and 2 mm gloves when it's in the 60's. I don't really recommend it.. I seem to stay unusually warm in cold water. The farmer john is the same 3mm wetsuit I use when caving in 43 degree water ;)

I'd say buy a one piece 6.5mm full suit if I were you.. *maybe* a two piece (fj + jacket) if you were planning on doing dives in water any colder than that in the future.

I LIKE it Aquamore, I LIKE it!;)
