Hi Kev,

As a matter of fact we are trying to put together a trip to shoot a training video. It'll probably happen at the end of Aug. or sometime in July we just have to set up a boat to take us to an island for free or real cheap.

John

Hey john,

That's good to hear. I wonder if the video used could serve dual purposes. Both training and promoting? I'm no expert, but it was a thought, especially since cost is a factor.

Hope you find a boat willing to work with you. It's a great cause.

Hopefully we can get a boat captain to work with us soon. The video that John shot was of us doing our last checkout dive and that went on the news, so just think what type of results a multi-camera coordinated shoot will produce. It's definitely a massive group effort that requires at least 8 divers, a good boat, great conditions, a ton of support from Reef Check, our friends and fellow divers.

The footage can be used for a multitude of things including electronic press releases, training purposes, recruiting new volunteers and accruing funds.

People in general are definitely using video more and more everyday. You don't see it on the DSLR camera systems but on the point & shoot side and cellphone cameras we see a lot more out there and it's only going to keep growing.

This was a great step forward for Reef Check and really showed the public's interest in their local waters.

Just saw the video.

This is the evening news version. The AM version was a bit longer - this one was edited to feature Chuckles as the reporter. He did the VO for the AM version. I have it on my DVR. If I can figure out a better way than simply pointing a camcorder at my flatscreen, I'll try to get it up. The AM version was a better cut.

It's pretty easy, if you've got a camcorder take the output on your DVR and put it in your camcorder. Record onto whatever media you use for the camcorder and then capture it on your computer. Edit, compress, upload, and presto! Julien Reef Check Video PR!
