Just checked the current results, the "Yeahs!" are losing some ground. But still way ahead.

Anyway, I imagine in the grand scheme of all this, the poll probably isn't going to matter in the slightest. But let's skew it for divers anyway!

By placing a 'wreck' coudl surely only be a good thing for tourism and the local ecology!!! Fully support what is being done!! Good Luck

Sometimes these artificial reefs become nothing more than a fishing hole. It would be better if the site was designated a sanctuary when making a artificial reef.

The fishing we have here is a bit different than in most places. The "bottom fishing" is all deep water stuff, maybe 100-600 fathoms, and the rest is trolling in 250-500 feet along the drop off and deep water areas. It shouldn't be much of a problem as far as conflicts with boat fishermen go.

I'm thinking the current plan is to keep it open to everyone for all uses. This does include trop collectors. I would think they'd be unlikely to use it regularly as they're mostly after yellow tangs but I could see if some exotic stuff settles in on it they may make a sweep every now and then and dive operators would be mad... but that's tough luck in my mind. I could turn in to a sanctuary down the line, you never know.

I have heard the fishing hole argument also. We have several big artificial reefs, ships that Atlantis submarine tours paid to place. It is really amazing how teeming with life they are! The YO257 is covered inside with very beautiful, but invasive species of snowflake coral. I would encourage divers to not be supportive of divers spearing on our artificial habitats.
