I just moved here a couple months ago from Washington State to start up law school at Cooley here in lansing. I was a pretty active diver and i wanted to get into some great lakes diving.

Im interested in tech diving; deep, wrecks, ice. But im up for anything. I have all my own gear and somewhere in the neighborhood of 80+ dives.

Let me know if anyone is interesting in another dive buddy!

You need to get yourself acquainted with Gilboa Quarry in Ohio, it's the best training site around for recreational as well as technical diving. I'm hosting a pumpkin carving there and you're welcome to join us Oct. 20! I'll be getting there Friday evening to set up and staying through Sunday (gotta take down my underwater decorations). My friend teaches through a shop in Midland Michigan and will be down with some students and some pumpkin carvers so you would have a chance to meet some Michigan dive buddies as well.

I'd be happy to show you the local ropes ;)

Have you been to ZZ's yet? It's the LDS on Michigan Ave between downtown and Frandor. You might also be interested in the new quarry in Monroe that opened up this summer. It's being run by a guy who's about your age. He's friends with the guys from Bruno's Dive Shop which is north of Detroit. Bruno's has it's own boat that it runs out of Port Sanilac and other local ports. Their last Port Sanilac trip is this weekend.

You moved to the state for Wreck diving. Check out the link below.

Great Lakes Shipwrecks: Michigan Underwater Preserves

Lots of inland lake diving also (Gull North of Kalamazoo, Houghton Lake and afew other inland lakes that others can let you know about. ZZ's has info and some books about dive sites. Sub Aquatic (SASS) in Battle Creek is pretty awesome to. There is a Dive shop in Mason also called Aquatic Sports Limited. and one in Jackson called the Divers Mast.

ya i have been to ZZ's and i signed up for their mailing list, but it seemed like they only do the charter thing. What im really looking for is to get in with a few or a group of people and go out, kinda have the locals show me the ropes. Its always cheaper to give the boat owner some cash for gas than a charter company to!

Brad, if you need someone to go with send me a PM, im off every other weekend and some days during the week. Always looking to get wet. In Gr, but have done a few wreck dives and love to do more....

Hollywood,

Have you ever dove with Obsession Charters over your way? I know a few guys who might want to go along - maybe we could find enough people to fill the boat next summer?

Yes, it is a top notch outfit, Gordon is a class act. Truthfully the best Lake Michigan Diving is August and September as the lake is at its warmest. If you dont dive Dry, you are going to want wait as long in the season as possible. Keep me in mind and i will if im not working......
