What you use for a cutting tool is entirely dependent upon what kind of diving you do. I do a lot of diving in Great Lakes shipwrecks. Because they contain a lot of wire and wire fish line is draped all over some of them we need shears or wire cutters to handle it. Because I do a lot of work with large (5/8" to 1") diameter line for moorings I also need to have a large knife with a sawing edge. Those itty bitty knives the cavers use are useless to us who are wearing heavy gloves, and line cutters are only good for cutting string.
