Some basic things not mentioned that are pretty good ideas as well...

1) Don't pick up the doubles by the valve knobs either (just as don't pick up by manifold as mentioned before). When you do, they can damage the o-rings/teflon rings, become loose and leak.

2) When moving the doubles, it is easier to attach the backplate and carry it around that way.

3) When laying the doubles down without the backplate attached, if you are going to stack anything on top, lay the bolt side down so that they are protected from being accidentally bent.

Add that to the fact that my harness felt quite a bit too loose, especially around the waist, and it was just a dive from hell.

If the harness is too loose around the waist, it should be not problem to tighten it even in the water. I frequently don my gear in the water, and it's almost impossible to get everything just so on the surface, so some adjustments are made a few feet down.

Make sure the crotch strap is not too tight. I should allow about 2 inches of room to move up before it feels uncomfortable.

Here is a link that shows how to adjust the harness.

Well, I tried adjusting it underwater, but the problem was that the buckle was in the wrong place, so it was butting up against my light and couldn't be tightened anymore. I had just adjusted the shoulder straps, but I forgot the impact that would have on the belt. :eek:ut:

I may tighten the crotch strap some, as well.

:)

Careful with that, your dive buddy may start to think that you've taken up diving with trimix all the time...or that your going through puberty a second time.:D
