To further prove that there is such thing as a stupid question...

How does one get the boot of their SPG? Is there some trick to it??

Well, assuming you are removing it to throw it away my method (involving a pair of tin snips) is great.

:D

It will be easier if it's warm- either a sunny window or a warm bath.

You can fold the boot open a bit so that the SPG comes out. Then the boot will slide down the hose towards the first stage. You'll have to remove the hose at one end or the other to remove the boot.

Good luck!

Just put the booth/console in a bowl with hot water, leave for ten minutes and push the SPG out.
Simple as that.:D

Sharp knife did it for me.

Working a little warm soapy water in there will help if it's old and stiff. Keep the water out of the hose and gauge.

New ones just need to be twisted when warm. The nested intrument is what provides most of the rigidity.

I took an equipment course two years ago, and they just ran it under hot water and pushed it out..

Buy it dinner first?

Dinner may be pricey sometimes. I'd just hit up the closest bar and go for the cocktails ;)

love your gear, don't love your gear.
