Hey Silverfish and all,

There are so many options out there that its hard to know where to start. While I don't mind spending money on life support, I do like it when a great reg is not so expensive. I think that is the case with the Aqualung line. My Micra/Cousteau combo is THE easiest breathing reg I have ever used. It is light and small and I love it. I loved it so much I got another so I can have the same regs when I dive with my dualies.

:tease:

TM..the $90.00 I mentioned was the price DIFFERENCE between the Oasis and the Maximus. That's what I was wondering if it would be worth the extra money for the added features.I have not yet looked into the Aqualung products or the Apexs.

I was trying to get some ideas on price ranges and features before I go to the LDS.I have not found any prices on the Aqualung regs, they do not promote online buying which is fine, but, I'd like some idea of the price range.Any one care to tell me where to get info online for these products? Also, can anyone comment on the differences between the Sherwood Maximus and the Oasis?

All this input does give me a little more confidence so that I will feel somewhat more knowledgable when I go to buy. That gives me some comfort.

As far as "price ranges", you might need to do a bit of detective work youself by calling the various LDS's in your area (working the phone book) and asking the price on the reg(s) you are interested in. This way if you do find a slightly less expensive price at a place other than your "pet" LDS, you can provide them the chance to match their local competition.

There are many online venues that sell gear online(DiversDirect.com, DiveInn.com, LeisurePro.com, ScubaToys.com, and many others). But before you go either purchasing gear online or using the online prices as bargaining tools with the LDS, read the past threads about "Buying online vs. LDS". There are some important details that you should know so you can make a well informed purchase.

Keep the questions coming. We're here to serve.

Oh, and minor point.....

It's Apeks with a "K". There is a model of reg known as Apex with an "X" made by Mares. Also a decent regulator, but the Apeks TX50 and TX100 are better.

I can't comment on the Apex regs because I have never used them but my dive buddy and I both decided on the Scubapro MK20/S600 reg setup. We love them. They are on the high end both of performance and price about $695 from most LDS's I have looked in.

Hope this help your decision.

Chad

Put me in for one of those $90.00 regulators. I will loan it to my mother in law. (Just kidding)
Texas Mike: I should be around this coming month. Count me in for whatever (well, almost) craziness you all have planned.

Vettster....

Check out the announcement for the Halloween Dive at Lake Travis in the Texas forum.

If you can make it, email me so I can be sure to put you on the "expected" roster.

And we got a few folks signed up for the hotel rooms if you wish to sleep in the "great indoors".
