Tiger Shark Expedition with Dolphin Dream October 23-29, 2021

I am gathering divers who like to dive with Tiger Sharks and other Sharks including Great Hammerhead (hopefully) in Tiger Beach, Bahamas. We’ll be going from West Palm Beach, Florida with Dream Team.

We tried to go in November last year (see the links to the previous trip invitations, below), but COVID-19 situation messed the schedule up. So, we reschedule the trip to this year, October 23-29, 2021.

So far, it’ll be me & my dive buddy are going. The boat can take 12 divers. If there’s enough people going on this trip, we can charter the whole boat, split the cost equally amongst us and save some money. I explained the details in the previous invitations, in the links, above.

The proposed itinerary would be as follows:

Day 1, Saturday, October 23, departure date from West Palm Beach, Florida
We board MY Dolphin Dream between 3pm and 7pm. Dinner will be served on board. Afterwards, orientation briefing and emergency procedure will be conducted. The boat departs West Palm Beach for overnight cruise to The Bahama Islands.

Day 2, Sunday, October 24, Anchor Chain reef, Tiger Beach, Bahamas
We have breakfast around 9am, while Captain Scott completing Bahamas customs and immigration paperwork , then heading north to Anchor Chain, Tiger Beach. After lunch, the crew will be chumming the water, but not feeding the sharks, for us to do the check out dives in the shallow (20 ft or 6 m of depth) to get our gears situated, understand the diving procedures, and acclimate ourselves to the sharks. We'll see Lemon Sharks and occasionally Tiger Shark.

Day 3, Monday, October 25, Fish Tales reef, Tiger Beach, Bahamas
We have breakfast around 8am and 2 morning dives starting at 9am at Fish Tales reef, at about 50 ft (15 m) of depth. Fish Tales is the prime Tiger Beach site for Tiger Sharks and Great Hammerheads. After lunch, we'll do 2 dives. Two out of 4 dives of the day would be feeding dives.

Day 4, Tuesday, October 26, Fish Tales reef, Tiger Beach, Bahamas
We repeat Day 3 itinerary with more feeding dives.

Day 5, Wednesday, October 27, Fish Tales reef, Tiger Beach, Bahamas
We repeat Day 4 itinerary with more Tiger and Hammerhead feeding. There are two Great Hammerheads that are residence of Tiger Beach area. We would see them multiple times during a trip. If we don't see them there, we might go to Bimini. We can visit other dive location around Tiger Beach if the group decides we want some variety. We may also spend half a day with friendly wild Spotted Dolphin, if everybody wants to see Dolphins.

Day 6, Thursday, October 28, Fish Tales reef, overnight cruise back to West Palm Beach, Florida
We repeat Day 4. Then, we cruise overnight back to West Palm Beach, Florida.

Day 7, Friday, October 29, disembarking the boat from West Palm Beach, Florida
We have a light Continental style breakfast while Captain Scott is clearing US Immigration and Customs at the Port of Palm Beach. We'll return to the boat's dock at the marina and disembark around 10:30am.

I just talked to Captain Scott Smith. He said the Bahamas port authority only allows us to be in their water, not land, due to COVID-19. That’s why, no COVID-19 pretest is necessary for our trip.

To join my group, I would prefer anyone to be fully vaccinated. I had my 2nd shot of Moderna 4 weeks ago.

Looks like a great trip. Too bad it is so incredibly difficult right now to fly into or out of Canada.
