No way! loops are not allowed. You could be seriously busted for using one.

You should have seen the big bug I went after with both hands on my last solo dive off Boston Ledges!!!!
I grabbed it, one claw in each hand and coaxed it out of the hole...massive bug!!...but loaded with eggs so I tucked her back in nicely in her hole.
Yeah, I've gotten nipped a couple of times.
localdivah:I was diving near Marblehead a couple months ago and saw what looked like a ski pole in about 15' of water. Got closer, and sure enough, that's what it was! Then I realized that it was only about 2' long, crimped at one end and bent. I have made do with a lot of things, but never thought about a fat ski pole as a tickle stick...
