Lobsters get distracted when they're laughing, so they're easier to grab!

LOL :D

Trixter:
Hello,

I guess bugs is local slang for lobsters?

One more thing, what do you use ticklers for?

Trixter

To answer your question, since everyone else is busy high fiving each other ;) Ticklers, or tickle sticks, are used to draw the lobster out of its hiding place (this was mentioned earlier). Generally considered safer than sticking your hand in

The trick is to get the stick behind the bug when they are holed up. They will instinctively move forward when tapped from behind. In this fashion you can guide them right out of their hole and right into your waiting net. Done right they will often make a mad dash right for your net if it's positioned correctly.

Easier said than done.

Before a dive, I just rummage through shed for anything long that doesn't float. Preferably something that I won't care to lose. (have lost many of them) What works great are stakes wife uses for Tomatoes.. She wonders why they disappear.

I've seen some divers with huge steel pipes/rods that use to lift whole boulders.. I don't find this method effective as creates silt out that can't see bugs and then bugs scamper away quickly.

Still intregued by the noose set-ups floridians use for bugs down south. (like dog catcher uses)

LobstaMan:
I know there have been some recent threads regarding tickle sticks used to coax the bugs from their hiding spots. I'm trying to put one together, but I could not find the thread(s). Can anyone post a detailed description of what they use and how they put it togther? Or maybe direct me to the previous discussion. A picture would be great, if possible. Thanks.

Jimmie,

I made you a Yak custom tickler last weekend. All it needs is a bungee lanyard and some water.

did anyone else notice this thread is from 03?
