If this is a guided cenote tour, I'd be okay with it as long as it is in one of the more accessible areas where you are able to surface if there were any problems. If this person was unguided and or doing any type of moderate penetration in the cenote, than all I can say is (to avoid criticizing another diver), I would not do it with the gear he has on.

I'll make it easier and post links to individual posts: http://www.scubaboard.com/showpost.php?p=783407&postcount=8 and

The guy that posted the pic, DSR-3, said it was from a guided cenote dive at Chak Mool with Leif of Manta Divers. In that same thread, Cancun Mark posted "I know leif, he's a good guy".

Maybe Manta Divers is taking OW divers on tours through restrictions without guidelines. Maybe DSR-3 is out running doing cave penetrations w/o laying line, and w/o proper gear.

More likely, in my estimate, is that there's a guideline that just isn't visible from the angle the photo was taken.

From the limited training I've received, I think it's dangerous. the biggest thing - no redundant air supply. Hopefully, it was a "take a picture" moment and he just backed right out?

I know the cave at chak mool, and the cavern tour on the gold line is a safe dive when conducted properly, but I am pretty sure that this is not on the main line. I have no idea who the diver is or who was guiding the dive, which is why I thought it good to comment on it.

I think with a basically anonymous photo like this it was a good opportunity to point out that this probably wasnt a very safe thing to do and had something gone wrong, it could have turned out pretty bad.

I'm just making an observation and I'm not saying this is right or wrong but without knowing the area, and just looking at the picture,it sort of looks like the divers feet are still out of the cave and the person who took the picture is just really close.
