Looks like I'm going at the wrong time, damn school schedule not letting travel.

Thanks to everyone for the responses both public and private, I'm planning out with the other guys to determine location now, I'm leaning really heavily one FIBR or CCV for the cost reasons. Belize, caymen, cozumel are looking at like 500 more and some of those don't include food.

June 19-26th....is not spring ;)
According to NOAA, Summer Solstice doesn't officially start until June 21st at 5:28 AM Honduras Time. I plan on diving the Prince Albert to celebrate the occasion, wanna join me? :D

Yeah, that's a technicality. :lotsalove:

see ya there....lucky you getting to go in November...
Not like Coz in January is so terribly shabby or anything!

but we will get to celebrate your "nut" status at CCV in June:D
I wouldn't have it any other way! :D

I can't speak for Ann, but if you would start the coffee on your way out and wake me when you're coming back in, that would be nice.

Take pictures.

got a housing for your camera yet?
A funny thing happened on the way...

First, the guy who had my SD890 P&S and Ikelite housing went ahead and bought it. Then Canon announced the 7D dSLR, which I preordered. (The 7D will shoot up to 8 frames per second.) Now I'll have to sell my 50D to pay for part of that. Then housings for the 7D won't be available right away. Then Canon announced not only the new S90 P&S that will shoot in manual mode but they are going to be selling a housing (WP-DC35) to go with it, and Ikelite may follow suit... :eyebrow:

I'm such the gearhead. Boys and their toys, right? :D

I hope to have another UW rig in the water at least by our trip in June. :cool2:

And the S90 will save images in RAW format too :D

Guys, the wifey and I are planning FI in December. We're still in the rookie camp and don't have all of our own equipment. We're not anal about using rentals as long as they are well maintained and safe. We will be renting BC's, regs, tanks and weights. Should we be at all concerned with the reliability?
We get the date nailed down(thinking 12/12 to 12/19) we'll see if any of you are going at that time.

Thanks

I am generally not at all concerned about renting tanks and weights, If I rented a BC and the inflator inflated and deflated without sticking and it didn"t leak then its all set too, I prefer wings but can make do with what's available, as for a Reg? Hmmm, Usually no problem, make sure the guages read zero when air is off and purged and depth is zero when on the boat, Check bite tabs and cable tie on mouthpiece and if the thing is leaking at any connection, even " just a tiny" leak I would have doubts. If it freeflows and they fix it by banging it on the gunnel you may want to reconsider although this has been a technique I have used.
A large percentage of rental tanks leak at the oring where the regulator mounts, make sure you have extras, bring some with you, ask your shop or here, I think they are mostly 014 or 012 but that may have changed since i last oredered them. Sure they should provide them but for a few pennies why take the chance

We are frequent visitors at Fantasy Island. Although we have all our own gear (tanks and weights are furnished as part of the dive package) we always dive with people using rental gear, and I have never observed any problems. The equipment seems to be well maintained and in good condition.
