Just curious if you guys think that a shore dive maybe this weekend - say, maybe at Vero or Ft. Pierce - is way out of the question. I was thinking of maybe Sat....possibly snag a few bugs before April 1.

I'm just curious if you think the conditions are going to be too crappy and piss-poor viz for diving off the beach :sunnyday:

There still is a pretty good swell coming in along Cocoa Beach...Probably pretty much the same to at least Ft Pierce...Saw 11 sec periods and 4ft at the buoy this AM...but mayby... we have 2 days

Looks pretty bad north of the Cape...mayby something good to the south???

How about this weekend for shore diving? - Vero, Ft. Pierce

Or any other diving not involving Springs within a few hrs. drive of Orlando :).

Last Saturday two young men came into our dive shop and rented some tanks and wet suits. They said they were going to do a night beach dive off of Pepper Park. Then the nextday they were going to dive the "Monster Hole" just outside of Sebastian Inlet because they wanted to see some sharks.

Well to make a long story short, the heavy surf beat the crap out of them during their night beach dive. One lost his primary dive light when he was knocked down. The next day didn't go much better. They said the visibility was about 1 ft. I don't know if they ever found "Monster Hole".

IMHO it's best to wait to at least May or June before thinking about doing any beach diving around the Vero Beach/Ft. Pierce area. That's the time of year when the winds begin to die down, the seas begin to flatten out and the vis. clears up a bit.

Here is a link to George Kennedy's web sit, www.IrishmanSoftware.com. George does quit a bit of beach diving off of the Vero Beach/Ft. Pierce area and has posted many photos from these dives. I hope this helps you out.

So anyone have any suggestions of any decent places to go diving this weekend .

I know it will probably rain, and I'm still not 100% against Ginnie Springs. I'd like to avoid Blue Springs and others, and would like to try and stay within a couple hours drive of Orlando. A charter would be nice, but it doesn't look like they will be going out at all.

Any suggestions....besides the murky pond behind FallenMatt's house :D?

Hey, Dr. Jay! Not sure what y'all are doing on Saturday night but we have a night/drift (and hopefully bug) dive planned out of West Palm. We are diving with Coral Island Charters. So far there are only five people on the boat so there is room for more if y'all want to venture south!

Sandy:)

I'll be at Venice Beach on Sunday.

Should be fun. I need to see what the water temp is...
