I've found golf balls, fishing rods, antique bottles, boat anchors, bicycles, the more interesting stuff has been this spring, a 26 inch prop, (I haven't decided what the best way is to contact the original owner) an antique glass minnow trap from sometime around 1930, some old train trolleys (just the frames~ I don't think I was the first to see these) and a carridge that some buddies are telling me must have been used to harvest and haul ice off of the lake back in the old days. A couple of outboards (one I will recover later when the traffic and temp drop) there's always something down there

The minnow trap sounds awsome, did you recover it? Any chance for pics?

I did recover it, it took awhile to soak so I could remove the lid~ but it's all cleaned up now. It was made by ORVIS, out of vermont and according to the info on the web it was the second design they came up with starting production in 1930. Type in "glass minnow trap" on the web, there were quite alot of these things made by several different manufacturers. Kind of interesting. (I would send pics, but I am somewhat computer challenged)

I came across this 4 lb weight in Coz; My friend was nearby so I called her over to see it. She tried to pick it up, but it pulled her right down. I took my friends hand , she put a bit more air in her BC and I helped her boost it up. So, together we toddled over to our divemaster, bouyancey uncontrolled, carriyng the weight and kicking the best we could to give him our find. The two of us must of looked like children, running over to our mommy or daddy..."Look what we have". Our dive master, who I believe dives with 4 lbs of weight total,of which half is for extra weight for others who may need it, took the weight from us and without one bit of effort tucked it in his BC. No bouyancey problem whatsovever. Someday I may have such bouyancey control...but then again, I only have around 6950 more dives to catch up to what my divemaster has. Hmmm....something to be said for expereince.

FatCat:
What, if anything, have you found and salvaged on your dives? I'm not talking about scavenging wrecks, I'm just curious to know what items, if any, all of you have stumbled upon while diving.

Here's my list to date :

4 kg of lead weights
2 masks
1 snorkel
1 safety sausage
1 bottle of champagne
1 dive knife with integrated bottle opener

An 888 foot long aircraft carrier.

I've found over the last 12 years of diving about 120 pounds of lead, weight belts, knives, and various bottles. My favorite bottle I found off of Lions Point in Catalina from prohibition. The glass is stamped with "Federal Law prohibits sale or use". I've also found fins, masks, snorkels. Enough to start a small dive shop thrift store.
