Well, as long as $90.00 pockets are still available I guess that's OK. :)

Rainer:
I googled around for the X-shorts, but it would seem the company no longer sells them (??) since they don't appear on their website. Any ideas where I could find them? About how much do they go for? Given that I'd want two pockets, the ones Tobin linked to seem amazingly expensive (more than half the cost of the wetsuit! though they do look quite nice). Any other thoughts?

Well made pockets aren't cheap. The pocket we offer have a few advantages to others available, but the most significant is the ability to recover the pocket and move it to the next suit.

Wetsuits have fairly short life. Being able to easily recover your investment in pockets pays in the longer run.

I have sewn on (my wife sewed them) my 3mm and my .5mm wetsuit Halcyon pockets just like I used to use on my dry suit. I did not glue them on.

They are wonderful. The only downside on a thin suit is that if you are not careful when taking the suit off they can rip the fabric a bit. I have had many hundreds of dives with these sewn on pockets. You need to make sure to pre fit them so that your finger tips can reach the bottom of the pocket.

I get a few funny looks in the tropics but they hold everyting you need including wet notes, a camera, snork, spare mask or a spool and SMB... (not all at the same time) and that occasional shell.

goodness those are expensive! I think (being an occasional cheapskate) that the make your own route would be the way to go... If you didn't want sew on (btw - Tollie did your wife use elastic thread?) maybe you could make someting more like a holster with thigh straps? If you use a weight belt already you'd be halfway there.

Can be modified to hang lower, add thigh strap

Rainer:
I'm wondering if someone makes thigh pockets that can be added to a wetsuit (i.e. a wetsuit that did not come with them). I dive a 7 mm Deep See Quantum Stretch Wetsuit. If something like this exists, would it deep to be permanently attached (e.g. glued on), or would I be able to slip them on/off? If both options existed, do people have opinions about which would be better? I'm really looking for a way to get my slate (which I like having, but which is bulky and a bit awkard when clipped to my BCD) off of my BCD and stored away.

I had the same problem and was turned onto Dive Rite. They have a line of pockets and pouches and are not rel expensive. Dive rite express was teh place I believe.
