Wow, we just returned from our weeklong dive trip in Mahahual, it wasn't long enough we can't rave enough about it. We stayed at the Maya Palms resort and loved every minute of our stay. Maya Palms is absolutely beautiful and the staff was very professional and attentive. The gardens are wonderful, the beach and freshwater pool were always inviting, the food by Pedro was fantastic and the owners definitely know what it takes to please us divers. Now about the diving... they have two 48ft dive boats that are very well maintained and the diving was anywhere from five minutes to 30 minutes to get to. You can literally swim out to the reef. The reef was virgin with plenty of sea life and coral. Every dive we made gave us all plenty to talk about. We saw turtles, lobsters, many fish, manta rays, dolphins, dove through passages inside 50ft high coral heads, wall diving, and on all the dives the corals were spectacular. We did several night dives and they were awesome. They are a PADI resort facility and do both PADI and SSI certifications. Daily they had people arriving from the cruise ships that would also make two tank dives. The price for a two-tank dive is 75.00 dollars. They were always busy with divers but we received the attention and service we expected. It is a first rate well tuned dive operation. Ken, the dive master and Ron, the instructor were so much fun to dive with and very professional. They also offered a wireless internet service that was a plus for us who needed to keep in contact back home. The rooms were excellent, clean, well maintained, air conditioned, newly remodeled, lovely to stay in and right on the beach. They advertise that Maya Palms is where the jungle kisses the sea and that could not be more appropriately said. Divers don't miss this destination cause you won't be dissappointed.

Rustic , pristine and wonderful! b ut the little fishing boat is the only way I want to go to that reef!!

Lisa, contact Blue Ocean Safari. We can take you on a two tank dive or a one tank dive. Two tank dives are $65.00. All DM's are PADI certified and we have PADI Instructors and a Course Director on staff. The store is located in the center of Majahual and easy to get to. My email is phillip@blueoceansafari.com.
