Steve/Doppler, was the burn instantly & noticeably obvious ?? I've never experienced, and don't intend to but am curious.

The leak was obvious as soon as the hose was compromised. The caustic mouthwash was INSTANTLY noticeable and VERY obvious.

I was breathing cautiously since the loop was gurgling. I had executed the "standard" procedure for emptying water from an SF2 sidemount unit, and when I returned to horizontal trim, got a couple of tentative breaths before "the event."

The caustic mouthwash was not in itself a particular threat... reasonably simple to deal with and manageable (perhaps on account of the cautious way I was inhaling)... but the after-effects were a pain in the butt.
