Thanks everyone for your help. After a couple of tips from people on the board I have made contact with a couple of local dive clubs and will hopefully go to see them in the new year. If at all possible I'll hopefully get a chance to try out a BP/Wing and maybe a transpac and then I can draw my own conclusions.

I have been looking and have been contemplating the pioneer wing as an option. One of the strange things is that I can get a TPII + tavel wing for £270, but the Halcyon BP + harness + pioneer wing would be £465, which would mean I could get a larger wing for the transpac in the future and still be saving money.

Then again I have to start thinking about regs soon, and I can't wait to hear the debate on long hose versus short :-)

Cheers all + Merry Christmas

NetDoc once bubbled...
was there ever a final decision??? Do tell!!! :tease:

Are you bored today and just want to stir it up? ;)

My turn.

I particularly liked:

Electric Zombie once bubbled...
To each his own.

I'll have to archive that one and trot it out when needed. :D

I was genuinely interested as to the final outcome... it's like missing the last ten minutes of a movie that you know is going to have a plot twist in it.

I've been diving mostly with a Zeagle Ranger. Its a good BC, but I'm going to replace it with a Halcyon with 27# or 36# wing simply because it is more streamlined , not so cluttered and minimal. The pockets on the Ranger are not easy to get to under water and the BC has a lot of drag IMO. Not sure about the others, never used them. See if you can try some of them out and see what you like and go for it.

out of the 6 choices .. I would lean towards the TransPacII. But have you considered the Halcyon MC System (www.halcyon.net).

This is the sort of BC that you can buy and use for all types of diving from open water to wreck to tech to deep to cavern to cave to exploration.

It grows with you as your diving grows, it is also great for stremlined diving and has attachment points for all you gear, it's a very well thought out system.

=-)
