I got it last December as a "present" to myself.
The first issue light canons had lots of defective bulbs (I saw two brand new ones fail on their first dive late last fall). My bet is that if you pursue this with UK you should be able to send your bad bulb, which, based on the purchase date, I'd bet is one of the bad lot, back to 'em and get a replacement. And oh, by the way, I'd mention to UK that the LDS was going to try to screw them on a warranty coverage with a "bad out of the box" scam... You'll still be out your $80, and the LDS will still be out you as a future customer... but maybe you'll end up with a spare bulb, and the LDS will end up with a hand slap - or become an "ex" UK dealer.

With regard to the credit card... I was not referring to the "insurance" per say.
Just call them and tell them you were charged and should not have been. Or that you did not get what you paid for. Let the LDS suck on that one for a while. Most credit card companies will make sure that the charge is reversed if you are not happy, or otherwise were taken advantage of, etc.. You were taken advantage of. And they laughed at you to boot. They deserve whatever you can sling back at em.

If these bulbs are going out within 30-90 days like everyone is saying.... I can not imagine paying for it to be repaired or replacement of a bulb that clearly should be lasting a long, long time. If the things keep breaking.. that is not your fault. That is the manufacturers "gee it looked good on paper"'s fault. Don't pay for their design mistakes. Let them.

Has anyone found another source for the Light Cannon bulbs? I doubt that UK makes the actual bulbs.

Phillips bulb.
.
He lied (again).
It's from Welch Allyn... the only maker of HID lights.

Local shops list them for $100 and will usually let you have one for $75. You can buy direct from WA with one catch....

Only $35 each, but you have to buy 100 of them. They'll sell to anyone, but they don't sell small quantities to anyone.

Actually, that is not entirely accurate. You can buy single bulbs directly from them. I checked into this a few months ago when I needed a replacement for my cannister HID. However, the cost of a single bulb from them was more than I could get it from the light manufacturer for (because they bought in bulk).

Retail on the bulb was $100, if I purchased straight from Welch Allyn it was $120.

Unfortunately, I couldnt find anyone to go in with me to buy enough bulbs to get a price break. : (

Check their webpage and you will see you can buy in any quantity you wish: Welch Allyn Light Order

LeisurePro has them for $64.95 a pop, FWIW.

I had the light.. Worked great until I needed to change the bat. Then I couldn't get the dam thing open.. Tried everything on this board... I ended up droping it out of my 4th story window... Then I got my money out of it.
