Penny and I dove redondo Monday night, surf was very small, vis was good, water was warm. great conditions. We saw a very large guitarfish, juvie kelpfish, lots of small fish, lots of octopus, but no baby sharks, no fringeheads, no nudis, and no sculpins. oh well. 93ft max depth, 66 minutes, 57 degrees at depth. entered the water around 10PM. I love diving at redondo late at night!

Dive Location: Shaw's Cove, Laguna
Buddy(ies): Terry (duckbill)
Time:10:19a
Bottom Time: 54 minutes
Max Depth: 39ft
Vis: 10-30
Swell height: 3-6'
Temp at depth: 66F
Surface Temp: 75F
Gas mix: 21%

Summary:
Surf was up...3-6' waves. Water was bathtub warm, though and dropped onto the sand. Saw lots of rays (over there!), a sheephead, wrasse, a lobster carcass, octo debris.

Very surgey. Visibility ranged from about 8' at the sand, to 30' by the reefs, so it was pretty nice. Garibaldi were out in force, and I had forgotten to take my motion sickness pill, so they were hanging out in front of my mask (for some food maybe?). I disappointed them, but I wasn't feeling so well when we surfaced...and had to thumb the next dive.

Dove with Terry (Duckbill), who is a vintange diver. I was impressed with his gear and his experience. He's cool under pressure, and an easygoing fellow.

Thanks Terry!

Really warm dive at Vet's Park! First dive with canister light, what an experience. I need to work out routing the cable, because I noticed it getting in the way at times. (How do you manage all this and a camera?) I did notice that I was pointing out more life than I had before...conclusion: I'm seeing more stuff!

Throughout the dive, we saw what looked like...some kind of tadpole...but smaller...like ...uhh...sperm, but bigger! Any idea what this was? They were just hanging there in the water column swimming about.

Sightings: Lots of baby flatfish, two large sole apparently mating, fringehead on the attack (Sam's light), and crab.

Pleasant dive.

Somewhere between sperm and tadpole. Hmmm...that's a big spread! :D

Hmmm...think brine shrimp...hey...could these be sea monkeys??

I Malibu I've seen little creatures with the same characteristics with red heads. I couldn't figure out what they were.Billy

Uhhhh, the cast of Baywatch maybe, they've got a couple of red heads. I think there's some type of correlation with the characteristics undrwater mentioned, I just can't seem to put my finger on it...... :eyebrow:

Yeah, you're blowin' it...and your prints are all over it!!

anon.

P.S. How do you know they're real red heads? Isn't red the first color lost when you get too deep?
