Hey, good afternoon ya all. I'm new to scubaboard and just wanted to introduce myself.
I'm former military and had the opportunity to receive my diver's certification while stationed at Fort Huachua, AZ. Yes, in the middle of the dessert. But, our certification and follow-on dives occured in the Gulf of California. Talking about a trip across the border to nowhere except water.
I have another interest and that's history as noted in my log-in name.
I'm trying to develop a history about Davy Crockett Units during the Cold War for others to read. It's an obsolete weapon now, but at the time when deployed it had the potential to be a big buster.
But, I hope to get the "first-hand experiences of "Davy Crockett Veterans," which is my best bet to collect historical information at the ground level, not a scholarly document ("a pie in the sky stuff") that someone else wrote.
Memories do fade. But, I only ask for your best recollections.
If you want to tell your story, I would appreciate your blog and then maybe informally talk with you or directly email you with more information, person to person.
I'd appreciate your own words on what is was like to become a "Davy Crockett Veteran."
Thanks.
