Another day another day of testing. Not much to add but for a summary. My spouse and I both agreed that it breathed nicely but once it started breathing wet it was quite annoying. I tried a few times to really clear it while changing positions and often had residual wetness.

In the end we both swapped back to our Tx1. At this point replacing the valve is high on the list. I really wish I could do that but alas will be on a boat in five days.

One final comment I can see buyers of a high end reg such of this one being disappointed with the wetness. I certainly would be. In my case this reg was a returned purchase. So I certainly hope the valve solves the issue. I bring this up because I am surprised it was not caught during development and testing.

I think you are being very unfair here. You know very well that Atomic changed the valve for a good reason. You should have waited for the update before diving with the older version and making the report.

Are you near any dealers who may be able to swap the exhaust valve? Contact Atomic and ask if there is anything they can do before your trip. Have you tried exhaling at different speeds to determine the effect? I haven’t had an opportunity to dive inverted except in the pool, didn’t notice anything amiss there, mine is the later version with the grey valve.

Wow, it is that noticeable? With the new grey valve this seems entirely fixed. Can Atomic send you a new exhaust valve for your trip?

I hardly know anything about manufacturing, but could imagine that an external supplier did not make the final parts identical to the prototypes they tested, so then had to re-do them once the discrepancy and problem was discovered? I bet TFX prototypes have been in secret testing for years. And this happened despite the valuable lessons they must have learned with the D400...

The woes of early adopters... Down the road you'll be able to boast "I had one of the very first TFX when they came out."
