I generally dislike screws that have to be torqued carefully, and/or can corrode, like for example the ones that hold the diaphragm retainer onto the body of the Poseidon Xstream 1st stage.

But these are only supposed to hold the silicone exhaust-T in shape, and I am quite ok with that solution. These will be lightly torqued by feel, metal into plastic means there is no dissimilar metal corrosion. And they don't need to be removed that often.

It seems the design compromise there was to maximise the space for exhaust air, so the diaphragm retaining ring does not screw in, but clips in. Not many options remained to fix the exhaust-T in that tight space, so the screws help take up minimal space, and I think the design is sound.

In fact between script fiasco and Philips screws reckon I'm cured of my lust.

Reminds me of cheap electronics.

Maybe....
But you said the D400 was the nicest breathing reg you had. That must count for something?

And tools needed for this reg seem to be: An allen key or two, an adjustable wrench, a phillips screwdriver, and ok, not too common (but you have one for the Aqualung firsts): a small pin face spanner.

Oh, and... no splined jam nut...
