All of a sudden, the dive gods said you had too much fun. Here comes a 3footer from nowhere. I am in 2 feet of water, no problem, I thought. Boy those little waves have alot of power. Well, needless to say, I sand surfed on my belly up onto the shore. Got up, looked around to see if anyone seen me. Up on the road Teresa, had a big grin from ear to ear.:D

Over all this was a good day.

After gearing up and strolling through the lake-like conditions, Tyler and I headed out to the cruiser. Visibility shallow was really nice and although it was dark, the vis at depth was a good 15-20ft. We cruised the 130ish contour and then up the small rise to the Cruiser. The resident Big sheephead were nestled in for the night. And rockfish and scorpionfish patrolled the small wreck. From there we headed upslope. TONS AND TONS of octopus out tonight. From average to big to itty bitty thumbnail sized ones. I found a small one clutching a bit of grass that was smaller than the Hermissenda perched below it. SMALL. Shallower we found thornbacks and shovelnose guitarfish as well as lobster and crabs. We continued out leisurely pace until we stood up in 5ft of water and again strolled out through the still non-existent surf. Great dive.

Wow, Terry!

That little octopus looks like it's made of blown glass. I've never seen one so delicate and translucent. Wonderful photograph of a beautiful moment. Thank you for posting it.

Nice pictures, Terry! I have to agree with Claudette, the one of the teeny octopus is great! Thanks for sharing!

Too bad, I will miss it... I am participating in the Revlon Run/Walk for Women's Cancer Research that day, in honor of my mother, a two-time breast cancer surviver. I will be hitting you all up to sponsor me :D ...

:D .....another killer dive in paradise. Bubbled down over the sand and immediately saw several bat rays scatter - incredible. With big grins we leisurely finned over to the reef and started poking around. Vis was better than expected, and as I fired up my NEW UK Light Canon, and it began to hum like a stadium light ;-), we found a bunch of really cool stuff, including two beautiful octopus. I really love the array of color at Diver's - purple sea urchins, green aggregating anemones, lavendar sand castle worms, yellow sulfur sponge, orange garibaldi, rust-colored gorgonians, black neoprene... you get the idea. The structure is great too - mini-pinnacles, mermaid's grotto, a crevice running up the end of the reef you can swim through - superb. The garibaldis were quite social, but the blacksmith and sand bass were a bit stand-offish. Eventually we reached our turn-around pressure and reluctantly headed back. But on the way, the bat rays had settled back into the sand, and this time, Andy and I were able to hover quietly just a few feet over one. We could've rode it if we were students of Scuba Schools of America, but we hadn't been trained to do that and so we held off. ;) A great, great dive. Thank you Andy and Aram. :14:

You can call them Rays or you can call them Jays, but you can't ride those Batrays!
