Hi all;

Does anyone know anything about a ship called "The Mack" that was sunk in 2003 just north of Chicago? If so, has anyone dove on it and with what charter outfit?

Thanks, RD

The name of the ship is, "The Straits of Mackinac." It is a 200 foot long steel steam powered ferry. It was sunk on purpose in 2003 five miles east of the wreck of Wells Burt off of Evanston.

At least one charter boat out of Chicago's Burnham Harbor takes divers out to it. I also take divers to this wreck in my boat, Enterprise, out of Waukegan.

Look for an article I wrote about this ship which will appear in the next issue of the magazine, Midwest Scuba Diving.
