I haven't noticed a difference in temps between surface and ~215ish.
 
With much bigger tides there are layers and thermoclines. Id expect some change here, Hawaii here.
 
I experienced a drastic thermocline at the sea-mount last year..

'went from 80°F near the surface to 72°F at depth..
you could literally see and feel it.. brrrrr :11:
 
The water temp was 77 degrees last Saturday. Surface was 78 (about 10 feet down) and still 77 at 178fsw. I haven't ran into any thermoclines here yet.

You can hit a thermocline where the Molakai express wraps around by Spitting caves east of Portlock.

well.. chris took his video of the plane wreck off the server..
'says he wants to sell it to the discovery channel :D
