Perhaps I am and I appreciate the info, but I am just going by what they told me on the phone this morning when I called them.

I specifically asked if they filled tanks or offered courses and the gentleman I spoke to said no and sounded quite perplexed that I asked. He did however ask if I wanted him to try and find the phone number of a local instructor.

FYI - I am not gunning for LP and if they do provide these services perhaps they should say so. I just get frustrated with some of the rhetoric that gets posted ( by some) about regular LDS's as there are a lot good ones out there who work hard for their customers every day.

( Maybe, I just need thicker skin or de-sensistivity training - Hmm..Maybe I'll watch Scarface again - LOL :biggrin2: ) .

Any thoughts on how Diver's Supply compares to Leisure Pro. I have an order w/ LP right now that has been coming since Dec. 14th. (UPS scheduled Jan. 7th) Without going through the details, LP hasn't been too motivated to take care of me as a customer on this order. This is my third order with them and I would rate the experiance with them so far as fair to average, at best.

I noticed the Diver's Supply ad today on the board and was pleasantly surprised at their prices. Has anyone had any experiance with them, good or bad?

BTW, before the LDS owners/employees/followers start to flame me about I should be supporting the LDS, the 5 LDS that are within 45 miles of me are incredibly poorly ran. As time dims my most recent poor experiance with them and I try to give them some business and I visit their shops I am generally reminded very quickly why I would rather buy on-line.

Thank you for your thoughts.

I've dealth with dang near every online dive retialer. I've had multiple dealings with LP and DS. No problems whatsoever w/ LP, had one issue with DS when tanks took a way long time to come in and I cancelled the order, unbeknowst to them they had already shipped them, so I ended up keeping them. For all of them - If they claim its in-stock don't fret minor delays... If its listed out of stock - don't hold your breath and depend on it ANY time soon. Same as your local LDS.

Call LP (if you haven't already) and see what the deal is. I'm sure you can work it out. How are you expecting them to "take care of you as a customer"? If it's out of stock, cancel the order and go through someone else. I'm sure both parties would be understanding.

I've order from both as well and only had one shipping situation with LP and that was b/c they were out of stock. I have found that DS's prices are not quite as good as LP but I have not really looked at DS lately so that certainly could have changed if they are on a real push to take some market share from LP.

DS is, like LP, a "real" LDS. I was in their store in Orlando last week.

I've ordered from both and at least in their Orlando store they actually have employees who are real DIVERS and who know something about diving.

I have ordered from DS and had a very good experience, quick ship and easy telephone conversation. The guy on the phone knew what he was talking about and helped with a few parts I was unsure of.

On the other hand as far as LP goes, since I live in metro NY I have been to LPs store and purchased from them several things, and I will say for certain, you need to know exactly what you want before you walk in the door. None of the guys that work there are divers. Any knowledge they seem to possess is from reading scuba magazines and product ads. If you need help deciding between two different products, seek help elsewhere. LP has super prices and good deals but its not a store you walk into and BS with the guys behind the counter about last weekends diving... They're nice guys, but not divers.

I've ordered from DS on-line and shopped in the Orlando store a number of times and always been pleased.

One of you said you've been to the store and I've been reading about how manufacturer's issue warrenties. So, if you visit leisure-pro in Manhatten, then would you should be able to get a warrenty since the manufacturers say a warrenty is only valid IF you purchase the product "in store"? So, tech. if you go to leisure-pro and purchase your product there, you should be able to recieve the manufacturer's warrenty even at the lowest price, correct?
