So, what happened to PUG and SNOWBEAR? Where did they go?

Keep it and kick out the rabid anti DIR comments. It just seems that the name irks a lot of people when they hear it, myself included. But it's had a very positive effect on my diving just reading this forum. I would guess it's done the same to many others who haven't even taken a class in GUE, like me. It's all good.

I believe a distinction now needs to be made, between GUE-DIR and AG-DIR, n'est pas?

I've read this entire thread. While I have adopted some practices there are others I've not. The information has however always been valuable and caused me to review the way I do alot of things. As to whether or not to moderate to a greater or lesser extent the answer is simple. Do what needs to be done according to the TOS. If people don't like it they are free to leave. Sometimes I tire of the censorship and what I perceive to be too much like political correctness. When this happens I just go over to The Deco Stop where there is more freedom to express ones opinions and tell people exactly what you think of them and their ideas. If there is a disagreement it is settled like gentlemen. With lots of swearing, name calling, and civilized internet fisticuffs. At some point the parties agree to disagree, call it a draw, or one gets his butt kicked and it's over and done with till the next round. Like it used to be in school before the psychologists stepped in and turned old fashioned schoolyards fights into more than they are which has had the effect of turning the kids into gun toting killers. Let people fight it out and get it over with. Bet ya this post gets pulled or edited.

I like the forum the way it is...the only "negative" is that dir-people seem far more defensive here than on dirx...
I once had "the same thread" running both here and on dirx, the one on here sometimes got so full of anti-dir "crap" that had nothing to do with the topic at hand, I would have liked to see those posts dissapear asap...so I kinda see why...

[soapbox] personally I don´t see why people take offence...I don´t mind being called a ******, if you like the way you do things, why do you care if someone calls you a lemming...let the offensive people be offensive and carry on the discussion with those you feel are rational/reasonable/have an open mind...and just enjoy jeffGs humour...of course I realize SB will never be that way but I think we´d all have more fun and learn more if we don´t take things so personally...[/soapbox]

Lynne, I think you rock (but you probably knew that already). I'm glad to see this forum and SB is still here, and I'm glad to see you at the helm of world domination, er, I mean as a moderator!

Here is the double secret inside scoop:

They stopped posting.

Perhaps they found something better to do. Perhaps they don't like the forums, the other mods or even me. I don't know: they didn't tell me. We can't force them to post though I miss both of them. They were never banned or asked to leave ScubaBoard, of that you can be certain. They are two wonderful people who are doing something different right now and the door is always open for them to return. May God bless both of them!

Personally, I think that Lynne has done a WONDERFUL job here. No, I don't think we need to personally verify that only "truth" has been posted. That being said, this IS a NO TROLL zone. If our DIR denizens believe a thread or post to be a troll, then it is. It should be gone. If an answer is part of the West Coast DIR crowd but not part of the WKPP DIR crowd then it can stay. This is not to eliminate controversy excepting that which pertains to the viability of DIR as an approach to diving. If you don't like the way DIR does it, then AVOID this forum.

So what you're saying is that everyone has to stop making fun of me for having my light chord routed the correct way?
