Benefits of registering include
Shana Phelan:By no means are we talking about taking potential habitat out of the park. We will brief all registered divers regarding what is and is not "trash". Anything with growth or creatures living on or in it will be left alone.
We mainly focus on things like fishing line, plastic bags, hooks, broken glass, cigarette butts...things that are dangerous for sea creatures, divers, and snorkelers.
We've actually been conducting underwater clean-ups at the Bridge since 2002, with the help of Lagoon Keepers and other organizations, and have removed countless amounts of debris from the area...including golf carts, carpet, a hand-gun, and mounds of fishing line.
If anyone has any questions or concerns about this clean-up, please feel free to call or email me directly.
This is an opportunity for divers who love the Bridge dive and all its critters to help remove some of the hazards threatening them
Thank you Jenny I like the octos a lot & there are a lot out there right now hiding in cans & bottles as well as crabs & blennies.
