I might head up tomorrow after work (well, leave a little early). how long does it take for the eggs to start to swim ? I see eyes already. Sat is a full moon do you think it'll be closer to the full moon ?

According to what I have read incubation is for about a week. It does not seem to be tied to the moon. I am hoping that they are still there on Saturday. I want to try for some super macro of the eggs.

what was the water temp there this past weekend? I am trying to decide if I can get away with my skin or if I need to wear my 3/2 tomorrow afternoon

Very nice pics of the Jawfish and the Sailfin Blenny.

What an AMAZING weekend ! every time I dive, I see something new or unbelieveable. I just can't wait to go back again ! Seahorses, my favorite octo (I left him alone yesterday), a sailfin blenny AND jawfish with eggs and a pipefish on my "stroll" in.

Wow, you know how to take some pics! I love that shot of the jawfish with the eggs :D Is there a way possibly to shrink the pics a tad so I can see the whole pic on my screen? Right now, I don't know if you know, but you have to scroll to see the whole pic? I hope you don't think I'm rude - just would love to see the whole pic :-) :-)

Looking forward to more pics of the jawfish :)

Wow! ReenyDiver, your pics are fantastic!!

Jupitermermaid found these and they are my favorite pics from the dive. (sorry I can't get them to load to SB so, no thumbnails)

Dive report for Tues 05May2009:

Water Temp = 77 to 79 depending on where we were, Vis = 30'

Started the dive by slowly checking out the area out in front of the playground, out to the sunken sailboat. We then took our time and headed under the west span. We spent 80 minutes in these two areas and never even made it to the fishing pier. We saw about 6 or 7 Octopus, 3 spotted morays, sharp tail eel, dozens of the little white nudis with the red accents, mantis shrimp, plus all of the usual fish. I saw a small hogfish towards the end of the dive, and also we saw what looked like a juvenile drum (high hat?) but it was yellow and black. noticed some gold coral banded shrimp in addition to the usual white ones and blue ones. There were bunches of flounder today.

There were less than a dozen people diving, which was a nice change. only saw two other divers during our whole dive. good times!

Glad you had a good time. Conditions sound perfect.

The yellow and black drum is a juvenile Jackknife fish.
