Pete...the S500 was one I was thinking of earlier....just didn't realize it was the Elf!

Cabo....excellent photos! Doesn't look like you're hindered by lack of some controls.

Rat Cat has some evil eyes! Cool photos!

Hi,

The housing for this model is the WP-DC800...great housing...also easy to take care of. I found the cheapest price for the housing to be at walmart.com for about 180.00. Hope you enjoy the camera!

Hi

Can i assume this is what we call the IXUS500 in europe, just purchased this package with the WP DC800 housing, and was looking for advise on the use of a strobe with it..hoping to borrow one for my hols next month rather than purchase at this time..wondered about the setup

Cheers

Jim

are you sure that's a strobe and not a put-outer?

NetDoc:
My external strobe causes EVERYTHING to be dark.

Hmmm, that doesn't sound right :11:

Have you run a check-list?
-external strobe firing
-internal strobe firing to trigger external
-external pointing at your subject and not off into space (very common problem)
...

NetDoc..

Which strobe did you get. You probably already know but the S500 uses a pre-flash so the strobe has to be set to ignore the first flash and fire on the second. This caused me some annoyance when I tested it out in the living room after first getting the package.

The strobe is the one for my old reef camera... and I doubt it will work with this. What strobe should I be looking for?
