Easy to see why everybody is recommending this dive company
From their site

Recommend a friend and get 25% off!

If you are already a PK Divers convert , if you recommend a friend who then dives with us, you will get 25% off your next dive

Perhaps I will take that off if people are going to be cynical:crafty:

I hope people recommend us for the right reasons and for no alterior motive. No one has claimed their discount yet (but feel free to) so I think people are not just recommending to get something out of it :)

To be fair I didnt even know they had that offer.
I recommend them because;
they are knowledgable about the Poor Knights
they are super friendly and welcome even if you bring twinsets on board (unlike most other tutukaka dive operations who snear and make snide remarks about them)
they take you to sites that reflect well on your excperience level
they dont always take you to the same site (Probably not an issue for you out-of-towners)
If we are driving along in the boat and something cool pops up on the depth sounder they will let us dive it (as long as the conditions are agreeable)
They provide a great lunch
and they have the fastest boat in Tutukaka making the journey 30 minutes instead of up to an 1 1/4 hours on other boats.
They DONT tell me how to dive or how deep or give me time limits (If I want longer than an hour I have to plan it with them but they are cool on this anyway as they have the fastest boat in Tutukaka)
They cater to ALL levels of diver...

I already get good discount with PKDive as they like to support local dive clubs so I dont care about any "refer a friend discount" offer.

Almitywife....you know you have to come to NZ! We are right next door and it would be a shame to say you have never been here. The diving is great and the Poor Knights host a variety of sites for the beginner right down to the novice. The sites are such that you could have half the boat doing a 12 metre "look at all the encrusting life" dive and the other half doing a 130 metre "swimming through the black coral forests" dive....Heaps of fish, nudibranchs, encrusting life and because it has been a marine reserve for years you get MASSIVE schools of fish literally meatballing you on dives.. The last dive I did there we could see the surface from 50 metres down then all of a sudden it went dark as a school of thousands of trevally swarmed overhead....
I have dived vanuatu and it is nothing compared to the knights...in fact the only reason I would ever go back to Vanuatu is for the lovely people and the wrecks. The reefs are boring there.

Plus you KNOW you wanna come see Me and Packhorse...we could even take you guys for a local Auckland dive from our boats.

We are off on our first trip to the Poor Knights on 1st March. We have never dived in NZ before (my main concern is being cold (yes - I am a wuss :D)
We have been looking at Dive Tutukaka but after reading this thread, it seems PK are the favourites. I'm a novice diver (21 dives) so want something fairly unchallenging. Will I be ok with PK dive?
Apart from a faster boat, what do PK offer that makes them sooooo much more popular than the other dive companies up there?

Attitude and lunch.:D

See my previous posts for my other reasons.

In all fairness you can have a great days diving at the Knights with most of the operators that head out there...I just prefer PK Dive. They certainly shook up the market and attitudes and customer service have markedly improved since they sprung into operation.

Think of Dive Toots like Starbucks and PK Dive like your local cafe...

You will have a blast. Water is as warm as it gets here 21 -22 deg C.

I'm shivering just thinking about it...
Never mind. I have told Jill that I am a wuss and she is reserving me a furlined wetsuit to wear over my thermal undies;)

Jill is a soft touch

EDIT: But very nice...we love Jill and Martin...very nice people
