...and an 8" brand (yes, like a bull) of a diver's head, mask, reg and bubbles also on my back.

One word: OUCH!

Suddenly I feel much more positive about my ability to endure tattooing...

Well, at the time..., I had three tatoos, and didn't want to be the painted man, so I thought a brand would be different. I'm not a "peircing guy", although I have nothing against them on others (especially dive babes).

I looked high and low for a body mod artist to do it in my area, and no one would, so some friends helped me do it in my kitchen with a soldering iron. :-)

It took a girlfriend about 90 minutes to do, burning repeatedly over a design pressed on with tatoo paper. It was not much worse than getting a tatt (constant but dull pain), but it dang sure hurt more while healing.

Looks pretty good when my back is darkly tanned.

It didn't smell bad the least bit.

I was thinking about one on my leg, maybe a shark, but the next one will definately be with a branding iron.

Much quicker... :-)

I was celebrating a victory a few months later and got the American/dive flag tatt, then just recently had my DAN number, blood type, DNR and Organ Donor added to it.

So much for my clever idea...

Pic was before the white was done (just the dive stripe).

In the immortal words of comedian Bill Hicks: "Jes**, what ba**s!!" :D

Have to see if I have a clearer shot.

ROFLMFAO! Popeye. I love it...fair warning...I'm SO taking that to my guy to put on my arm.

Anyway, I'm home now, so here are the bubbles on my left leg.

HOLY CATS, MAN!

Now that's #@&*% hard core. I'll sit under a needle all day, but no way am I going to get burnt.

Ya, here we go....

Popeye - damn....I branded one of my friends once, and I can't believe you and your friends were actually able to do something that large!!

Rich - that is a sweet, sweet tribal. That is truly awesome.

I've got two tattoos, but nothing diving related. A lightning bolt hurling minotaur bursting out of my right arm, and a tribal drag on curled in a circle at the base of my neck with two large tribal designs across my shoulders...i've pondered a diving related tattoo and these have really got me thinking.

These are fantastic!! I'm truly inspired to go ahead with my idea. When I can, I'll let you all know.

Dolphin leaping from some waves with a sunset in the background on the inside of the right ankle, and a very colorful tropical island with the ocean in the foreground and a sunset in the back on the outside of the right ankle.

The next step is to add a wrap of waves between them...
