Dear Jon
I went the route of the fancy electric high pressure espresso machine, but went back to the prosaic little italian two-part stove top model for the simple reason that it makes superior coffee whilst taking up less space in my kitchen.
Indeed I live in the land of cuckoo clocks, just on the border to Germany's Black Forest, but for the last 4 years I have been renting a 300-yr-old farmhouse in the Vosges as a weekend place. I spend a lot of time there, but I STILL can't speak French
- the languages eludes me.
I solve the coffee problem by taking it with me from Switzerland. If you get lucky, you might find Chicco d'Oro (an Italian brand) somewhere. Try the Carrefour, they usually have a reasonable selection.
You and *she-who-must-be obeyed* should pop up one weekend, get good coffee (with a little armagnac added hehe) and tell me diving stories. Just 20 KM from Remiremont!
